Kaan Bulak: »Hayali Sesler – Traumklänge«

Sat, Aug 23, 2025, 19:30
Elbphilharmonie, Kleiner Saal (Hamburg)
Gaye Su Akyol (Vocals), Moritz Ter-Nedden (Violin), Sindy Mohamed (Viola), Stefan Hadjiev (Cello), Kristina Edin (Double bass), Kaan Bulak (Piano), Kaan Bulak (Director)
»Tradition should not be a prison for ideas,« says Kaan Bulak. Istanbul and Berlin are the cities that have influenced the acclaimed composer, pianist and sound artist the most and inspired him to create his very own way of making music across geographical and cultural borders. His work operates at the interface between classical, electronic and experimental music, combining the sounds of European baroque and traditional Turkish music with contemporary sound textures. In his new programme »Hayali Sesler – Traumklänge«, Kaan Bulak and his ensemble present their own works of mystical chamber music as well as arrangements of art songs from Istanbul. The sounding dreams begin in the ninth century with hymns by the Byzantine composer Kassia and extend to contemporary songs by the globally popular singer Gaye Su Akyol. An evening full of spherical impressions and dreamlike soundscapes.
